A Message from Pastor Steve
Greetings to all,
My hope and prayer is that you are all doing well and staying reasonably warm. I also hope and pray that by the time you are reading this, that the temperatures have moderated to a more seasonally reasonable level. But right now it is “purty darn” cold! Which is probably a good reminder of how quickly things can change and how focused we can sometimes be on the current moment. It is a gift to live in the present moment, while we learn from the past and look to the future. We should always remember that all of time (past, present, and future) is in the hands of God, who loves and cares for us deeply.
Over the next few months, I look forward to getting to know you and the whole community better. As I am out and about, settling in to the rhythms of life and ministry in this place, I plan to do a great deal of listening. I’ll be listening to your stories. Stories of the past with all its joys and challenges. Stories of what is happening now in your life and the lives of those you know and love. And stories of hopes and dreams for the future. Because within all those stories is the story of what God has, is, and will be doing. I’ll be listening for the story of God’s work in our midst and God’s call for our life together.
I’ve been reading my way through a history of Dearborn County, and I am struck by the things that are still the same and the many things that have changed. I’m excited about the temperatures warming so that it will be easier to get out to explore the area and see places I have been reading about and meeting the people that have made it their home. And I look forward to exploring the story of what God might be about through us.
Peace and Joy in Christ,
Pastor Steve
Dear beloved friends of Emanuel:
Pastor Vicki and I are so very grateful for your generous Spirit throughout the year and especially so in this season. The variety box was exciting to receive and the financial gift will be shared in many ways. I praise God that our ministry together over the last 4 years have been so richly blessed and am very excited to see how this new chapter in your mission develops and grows as God calls you into new adventures.
Yours, in Christ, Pastor Phil
